More About Me...
Hello,
It is so nice to meet you. My name is Jayde and I am the name and the face behind Pilates with Jayde!
I am a qualified Pilates mat-work instructor based in South Australia and teach at multiple studios across the State.
I have had a passion for movement ever since I was a child and started Rhythmic Gymnastics at the age of 6. I continued in the sport for 15 years and following gymnastics, made endeavors in Dance & Performing Arts as well as Aerial Acrobatics. Currently I am learning Pole Dance for fitness and have been loving the challenge of learning something new!
Rhythmic Gymnastics
I started gymnastics at the age of 6 and continued in the sport for 15 years, finishing my final competition in the United States at the age of 18. I adored gymnastics, it was a huge part of my childhood and a fundamental part of my upbringing.
I spent my years training across 2 different clubs in South Australia: Venia Gymsports & Tanjule Rhythmic Gymnastics Club. I had many amazing experiences competing both within Australia and overseas, where during my later years particularly, I saw myself achieving personal bests.
I represented South Australia for 10 consecutive years as a member of the State Team. My first year being 2006, I was 8 years old and the youngest member of the team and my final year being 2016, 18 years old and achieving my best results.
In 2016 – I was the South Australian Level 10 State Champion. I finished 6th overall at the National Championships and took home a silver and bronze medal in the finals competition. In April of 2017, I was awarded South Australia’s Levels Rhythmic Gymnast of the Year for 2016.

Contemporary Dance
In 2017, I shifted my focus to Dance. I wanted to see if I could take the skills I had learnt as a gymnast and develop them into a potential career as a dancer.
I enrolled in a Bachelor of Performing Arts – Contemporary Dance – at the Adelaide College of the Arts.
I spent 2 years training at the school, where a typical day would start at 8:30am and would not finish until 5:30pm. It was an intense couple of years of training and learning. I took part in Ballet and Contemporary technique classes on a daily basis. The curriculum also included Partner Work classes, the basics of Tumbling, Choreography, Yoga & Conditioning, Dance Anatomy, Dance History and working with Industry professionals to develop contemporary works and perform them in shows.
It was hard work! I spent 2 years training as a hard as I could with the hopes of becoming a professional dancer one day.
Unfortunately I did not complete the course in the end. Across the 2 years I dislocated my knee cap on 3 different occasions. I was advised by multiple physios to undergo surgery in order to stop ongoing dislocations.
I had the surgery in December of 2018, thinking I would be back dancing in 6 months. Boy was I wrong! The rehab process was a lot longer and more challenging than I ever could have imagined and it definitely changed my path.
However, during my rehab I was properly introduced to Pilates by one of my physios at the time. It was because of this, in 2019 I decided to enroll in my first Pilates course!

Aerial Acrobatics
I was first introduced to Aerial in 2016 whilst I was still a gymnast. However due to my commitments to gymnastics and dance, my training in Aerial has not been linear.
I spent roughly 5 years on and off training at Aerial Artists Adelaide. I developed my skills and was selected to perform in multiple Fringe Festivals as a part of the show: Le Aerial.
The highlight of my time as an Aerialist was definitely performing, I loved being on stage, performing in a big show to even bigger crowds. I was also lucky enough to perform various corporate shows at the Adelaide Convention Centre and Hilton Hotel.
In 2018, Le Aerial performed in Perth and Adelaide Fringe Festival. In the space of two and a half weeks we performed 23 shows to sold out crowds.
In 2020, I performed again as a part of the Le Aerial show. This was after my knee surgery in 2018 and recovery in 2019. It took a lot of training to get back into shape to perform however I was over the moon to not only make it back into the team but also really step up my skills as an aerialist and a performer. I performed in 4 Aerial acts in the show; The Birdcage (top photo), Sphere, Straps (second photo) as well as Aerial Silks. Not only was it some of my best performances as an aerialist but the show received some of its best reviews that year!
“Using birdcage type apparatus, nets and even chains the female artists showed various feats of skill and daring. They were svelte and beautiful. Laura Wilson, Olivia Baker, Peri Kowal and Jayde Ormsby are at home twisting, tumbling and wrapping themselves in ropes, chains and nets.”

Qualifications
Pilates, just like most professions requires study and qualification in order to teach.
I have done all my studying through Studio Pilates. Studio Pilates certifications are approved by Fitness Australia and are also globally recognized.
I am currently qualified to teach Matwork Pilates and have completed 4 courses with Studio Pilates to date. I plan to take on my Reformer Course next, with hopes to eventually be qualified across all the Pilates equipment.
Many of my individual clients in Adelaide and online request Pilates to help with an injury, rehab, flexibility, toning and everything in between. I draw on my educated training, industry knowledge and instructor experience to deliver a truly customised class.

Currently Studying
I am constantly looking to the next course I can undertake, in order to further my knowledge and make sure I am the best instructor I can be.
I believe we are all constantly learning. The more I can learn from academic Pilates courses, the better my classes are and the more knowledgeable I am as an instructor.
Stay tuned for what I will be studying next!

My Current Classes
Now I run my own Pilates studio in Maslin Beach. ‘Maslin Beach Pilates’ has brought mat Pilates into the local area and the members that attend really help bring my classes to life! I also teach at Pole Boutique in Adelaide which is a great venue for those closer to the CBD.
Teaching Experience
Not long after I finished my initial Matwork course with Studio Pilates I began teaching classes.
My first classes were at The Energy Collective. A small boutique studio located in Seaford South Australia. I taught weekly classes there from the end of 2019 until the studio unfortunately closed in mid 2020.
I then spent some time running my own matwork classes at Anytime Fitness Aldinga. A great learning experience for me in the early days, where I received my first ever testimonial!
“The long awaited Pilates class was so worth the wait! Jayde executed this class professionally, using great visualisation and a hands on approach. Music was well selected at the right volume, the pace was perfect! Thanks again for value adding to Anytime Fitness Aldinga.”
Grace (Anytime Fitness Member).
In January 2021 I began teaching at Ziba Fit and finished my time there just after a year. In September 2021 I started teaching at The Pole Boutique in Adelaide where you can still find me teaching many classes each week.
